Monitoring and Evaluation Curriculum
Component: 2. Continuously assess student competencies to determine their level of computer proficiency through portfolios, skills inventory, checklists, and periodic skills test. 3. Monitor and report achievement data as it relates to educational technology initiatives including TAKS scores in reading, language arts, and mathematics are used as one of the indicators for effectness. 4. Support the creation and use of student and teacher-created rubrics to evaluate students on media and technology projects. 5. Make course correction/modifications to media/technology projects and/or technology plan as needed based on formative assessment. 6. Questions to ask
to evaluate software effectiveness:
Professional Development Component: 1. Database to track teacher training, proficiency surveys, training evaluations, training assessment of the impact on teacher competency and classroom practices, and teacher observations. 2. Continuously survey personnel to ensure that training, support, and equipment are meeting their instructional and administrative needs. 3. Certificate programs appropriate for each training outcome 4. PDAS evaluation component for technology proficiency level 5. Tracking of increases in level of campus technology use
Infrastructure, Hardware and Technical Support Component: 1. Yearly analysis of district inventory, monthly monitoring by tech staff, and teacher surveys on needs. 2. Tracking of the types and number of "help requests and how quickly they were resolved during the school year information to be used in evaluation of future troubleshooting training and software purchase issues. 3. Survey for Increased efficiency, greater student /teacher productivity, and reduced teacher frustration with network capabilities.
Monitoring
and Evaluation of the Entire Technology Use Plan 1. Annual evaluation and revision/renewal of the plan: Computer technology changes constantly and there is a need to upgrade equipment and skills on a steady basis. Evaluate the progress of the technology plan using feedback from the groups responsible for implementation. 2. Use a variety of evaluation/assessment tools to collect, aggregate, analyze, and report the impact of media and technology programs. 3. The evaluation should be formative and summative: The technology coordinator keeps all for use in formative evaluation throughout the year and for use by the Technology Planning Committee in the summative evaluation. 4. Students: grade-appropriate student surveys, technology portfolio, computer exams, student observations. 5. Improve program evaluation by using the power of the technology applications to capture and report relevant information. 6. Perform multiple assessments whenever possible. 7. Involve teachers in efforts to develop assessment practices that satisfy local needs, align with state frameworks, and track student progress over time. 8. Other ideas include:
Teacher and student Portfolio detailing technology use; Campus Technology
Fair; State Technology Contest, and periodic meeting and feedback from
various individuals.
